This Winter, Azure is excited to launch one of its most exciting menus yet – the Journey Through the Cape, is an inspired five-course food and wine pairing bringing the very best of food and wine the Western Cape has to offer, to the Azure diner’s plate. The Menu, curated by Chef Christo with wine pairings, masterminded by Head Sommelier and Bouchard Finlayson Ambassador, Gregory Mutambe, is a dream for gastronomes.
The 2018 Bouchard Finlayson Sauvignon Blanc Reserve, has been paired with a Cape Atlantic Fruit de Mer starter, while the Rooibos Smoked Ostrich teams up with a Cederberg Sustainable Rose 2018 for starters.
For mains, Joostenberg Duck is accompanied by the Kaapzicht Skuinsberg Cinsaut 2017 (an elegant wine with rounded tannins, leaving a silky, smooth feeling on the tongue) and the Moroccan Lamb Loin from the Karoo, by a 2015 Mount Sutherland Syrah from Super Single Vineyards, that Gregory explains perfectly exhibits the extremes of temperature in the area, thus producing a deep concentration of flavours.
Casting a spotlight on the Elgin region, the final salvo of Apple Caramel Cheesecake, and a Paul Cluver Riesling Noble Late Harvest 2017, is sure to leave diners, ready to take a road trip of their own....to experience a culinary journey through the Cape first hand.
