The threat posed by climate change and the need to preserve natural resources are some of the most important issues facing us today. At 12 Apostles Hotel & Spa, we are keenly aware of our responsibility to confront these problems head-on, and have instituted a Green Team to investigate and implement the ways we can contribute to this global process.
We are committed to our community, water saving initiatives and are dedicated to social responsibility. Supporting local charities, conservation and nature preservation, heritage and green initiatives including the personal development of each member of the Red Carnation team, is at the heart of everything we do.
Conserving Our Water
Water Saving initiatives in Cape Town are incredibly important and at the forefront of our minds and of our guests. We do everything we can to save water and many initiatives have been implemented at the hotel. We have set up a Water Team, which form part of our Green Team and a Water Warrior to lead the process in the hotel and are very proud to say that with the above initiatives in place we have reduced our water consumption by 42% January 2016 v January 2017.
Signage is visible throughout the hotel advising the Western Cape Government’s restrictions; Cape Town Tourism’s #SaveLikeaLocal; and our own list of over 40 water saving activities that guests are asked to respect. These include, but are not limited to, the replacement of bath plugs with two minute shower timers in guest rooms; reusable ice cubes; waterless urinals; systems to collect and reuse otherwise wasted water and rain water and more.
