For many of us, keeping up with our fitness regimes while on holiday, or on a business trip, is essential. Now, this will no longer be a question of self-motivation, with the introduction of Red Carnation Hotels’ Sports Buddies programme. During a stay at The Rubens at the Palace or Hotel 41 in London, or over at The Twelve Apostles in Cape Town, guests can team up with each hotel’s energetic staff members to take on the sports of their choice.

Sports Buddies

Each of the hotels’ eager volunteers is ready and waiting to partner up with the guests who choose their favourite sports and fitness regimes, from running and cycling through the city’s green spaces, to pulling together for a team sport such as football.

Both The Rubens at the Palace and Hotel 41 are within footsteps of some of London’s best known parks: St James’ Park, Green Park and Hyde Park are just moments away, so it’s here that with the staff’s local knowledge, guests are led along lesser-known running tracks and verdant walking trails, which are just as easily navigated by bicycle.

Alternatively, guests are introduced to the parks’ activity hubs. Take the chance to ride horseback through Hyde Park, re-enact the Wimbledon Championships on the tennis courts, or try trampolining to take a break from the usual fitness routine. Guests can even join forces with hotel staff for a friendly five-a-side football game.

Over in Cape Town, the Sports Buddies programme gives guests the perfect reason to get out into the wild surroundings. And with UNESCO World Heritage Table Mountain National Park, as well as Twelve Apostles Mountain Range, in close proximity, there are plenty of hiking trails within easy reach.

Sports Buddies

All of this virtuous living can be continued in each guest’s own time. At The Rubens at the Palace, those who stay at the hotel are given complimentary day passes to a nearby gym. Guests at The Twelve Apostles, meanwhile, have the hotel’s outstanding spa facilities to enjoy. Try the hotel’s hydrotherapy pool and Rasul Chamber before retreating to the tranquillity lounge and recharging with homemade healthy snacks at The Spa’s Health Bar.

Plan ahead to arrange these Sports Buddies activities when staying at Hotel 41 and The Rubens at the Palace in London, or The Twelve Apostles in Cape Town, and you’ll feel in even better shape than you did when you arrived.

The Sports Buddies programme is complimentary to hotel guests, but any third-party costs, such as golf or horse riding, will be an additional charge.
