2010 - WELCOMING THE WORLD TO CAPE TOWN

COUNTDOWN TO KICK-OFF:

With less than a 100 days to kick off the first game of the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa, football fever descends on South Africa and the world. Feel the rhythm of the final count down and the energetic excitement of thousands of football fans.

The sheer magnificence of the newly built R4.4 billion Green Point Stadium and its 70,000 capacity makes it central to the success of the football tournament.  It is beautifully situated between Signal Hill and the Atlantic Ocean surrounded by a 60-hectare urban park and is set to leave a legacy for the city and its future generations. Hosting a total of eight matches starting on the evening of Day One on 11 June it will also be the location for the first semi-final match set for the evening of 06 July. The Twelve Apostles Hotel and Spa, Cape Town’s No. 1 hotel, has been enhanced with an extensive multi-million Rand structural and interior design refurbishment just in time to welcome visitors to South Africa for the World Cup 2010™. Located a mere 15 minutes from the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront and 15 minutes to Green Point stadium, the hotel’s unique and tranquil location offers guests the perfect opportunity to escape the mayhem of the city and enjoy the awe-inspiring views of Table Mountain and the Atlantic Ocean, whether staying over night, joining us for cocktails or a dining experience in one of our restaurants.
