  • Clive Bennett

    Managing Director of Red Carnation Hotels in South Africa Clive Bennett

    After completing his Hotel Management training at The Savoy in London, Clive spent 6 years at The Carlton in Johannesburg. In 1987 he was appointed as General Manager of The Royal Hotel in Durban and in 1992 became an Executive Director of Three Cities Hotels. In 2000 he moved to Europe to take up the position as MD of a Specialised Banqueting Production business before returning to the hotel business to manage the Annabelle Hotel in Cyprus. He returned to SA in June 2004 as General Manager at The Twelve Apostles Hotel and Spa to establish the business as the Hotel of First Choice in Cape Town. In December 2004 he was appointed Managing Director of Bushmans Kloof Wilderness Reserve & Retreat, the Relais and Châteaux property in the Cederberg. In November 2006 he negotiated and concluded the purchase of the Oyster Box in Umhlanga on behalf of RCH and in November 2006 was appointed Managing Director of Red Carnation Hotels in South Africa.

  • Hotel Manager Brett Davidge

    My early career culminated at the Royal Hotel, Durban where I worked in both Food & Beverage as Royal Coffee Shop Manager and later in the Rooms Division team.

    Fortune then took me overseas to The Dorchester in London where I spent 8 incredible years in a variety of positions. I left The Dorchester as the Assistant Front Office Manager with a wealth of irreplaceable operational and management experience.

    The industry then took my family to Gleneagles Hotel and Golf Resort, Scotland. I joined as their Front of House Manager and then as Operations Manager, Special Projects. During this time I was able to broaden my experience in all aspects of a multifaceted resort operation.

    The draw of South Africa and our heritage brought us home to The Twelve Apostles Hotel and Spa. In the Twelve Apostles, I believe exists the unique character that I have experienced in other top Hotels around the world. The Hotel, the setting but most importantly the staff, is something I am proud to be associated with. I encourage you to join us and become part of our family.

  • Sales & Marketing Manager Nicole Smith

    I joined the team at The Twelve Apostles Hotel and Spa in 2002 as a Switchboard Operator and soon progressed to Assistant Front Office Manager. As we are a member of Red Carnation Hotels, I was given the opportunity to travel abroad in July 2004 and work in the five-star Milestone Hotel as Reception Manager.  After 18 months and a great deal of experience, home was calling. I returned to The Twelve Apostles Hotel as Front Office Manager and was then promoted to Guest Services Manager in May 2008 looking after our Consortia guests including Virtuoso, Signature, Amex Fine Hotels and Resorts and Leading Small Hotels of the World. In September 2009 I joined the sales and marketing team and am now taking care of Sales for The Twelve Apostles Hotel and Spa.

  • Food and Beverage Manager Roberto de Carvalho

    After holding the position as the Executive Chef at the Hotel for close on 10 years I was ready to take on a new career challenge so when the position of Food and Beverage Manager became available I jumped at the opportunity. To see and experience the Hotel operation from another perspective has already proved beneficial to myself and to the development of higher standards for the Hotel. A greater clarity, fluidity and efficiency has been created between the relevant departments.

    I consider my strong food and kitchen management background as a definite positive starting point for taking on more of a front of house management position and being able to understand the business from more than just one viewpoint.

    My career at The Twelve Apostles Hotel and Spa, formerly De Oudekraal Hotel, started in 2001 in the position of Sous Chef and under The Red Carnation Hotel Collection in 2003 I was promoted to Executive Chef.  I have travelled to Hotels worldwide to learn, teach and experiment with different cultures and countries and these influences are evident in the menu at our Azure Restaurant.
     
    In addition to my position as Food and Beverage Manager at the Twelve Apostles Hotel & Spa, I am also a member of the Chaîne des Rôtisseurs as Maitre Grillardin since 2003; a member of the South African Chef’s Association since 1996 and a Member of the South African National culinary Olympic Team that will compete in Erfurt, Germany in 2012.

Having worked in both front of house, with our guests directly and behind the scenes as reservations manager, I know exactly how important first impressions are.   • Luvo Ntezo

    Sommelier Luvo Ntezo

    My initial interest in wines was nurtured by my mentor, Johan Lopshur of Steenberg Wine Estate.  Johan recognized my interest and hunger for knowledge and encouraged me to pursue these interests in the wine industry. 

    I have been employed at The Twelve Apostles Hotel and Spa since March 2003 in the position of Sommelier and the hotel is very dedicated to the training and development of staff and is therefore assisting me while I am studying at The Cape Wine Academy and working towards becoming a top Cape Wine Master.

    I am committed to ensuring your visit to Azure Restaurant is a complete dining experience with sumptuous food matched perfectly with world-class international and local wines.

  • Concierge Team Leader Johan Du Toit

    My path did not originally include the hospitality industry, but rather IT and Networking - I know complete opposite direction!  It was my brother's involvement in this exciting industry that peaked my interest and as they say "I have never looked back.

    I was lucky enough to complete my practical at Fancourt Country Club and Golf Estate and started at the Twelve Apostles Hotel and Spa in 2008 as a student completing my third-year practical. After 6 months I was employed as Assistant Concierge and then promoted to Concierge Team Leader in August 2008.

  • Front Office Manager Abraham Mouton

    I started my career in the hospitality industry in 1998 when I was privileged enough to be part of the opening team of Walt Disney World’s 4th Theme Park in Orlando, Florida – Disney’s Animal Kingdom.  After returning from the US in 2000, I took up a position as Front Office Agent at the Mount Nelson Hotel in Cape Town.  After 5 and a half years, during which I held a variety of different positions – including Front Office Manager – in October 2005 I embarked on an 18-month sabbatical in the UK.  I joined the Twelve Apostles Hotel and Spa in June 2007 in the position of Duty Manager.  Hard work always pays off and I was promoted to the position of Front Office Manager in May 2008.  My team and I look forward to welcoming you to The Twelve Apostles Hotel in the near future where no request is too large and no detail too small.

  • Luxury Representation Collection Tesna Simonsen

    I started my career in the travel industry in 1996 where I worked for an inbound DMC in Johannesburg. After relocating to the UK in 1999 I took the position as the South Africa Product Executive for a well known UK Tour Operator. After leaving the company with a wealth of experience gained, I found my true calling and started my career in the field of Hotel representation. Over the years I have grown and developed from Sales Executive to Business Development Manager.

    In 2008 I joined the Luxury Representation Collection in the position of Sales Director where I am very privileged to represent The Twelve Apostles Hotel and Spa.  I am extremely passionate about the property and am proud to be associated with the unique team. It is my responsibility to drive the success of The Twelve Apostles Hotel & Spa in the UK marketplace through new and existing relationships with the UK travel trade.

  • Philippa Kort

    USA Sales Representative Philippa Kort

    I was born and raised in Durban, South Africa and completed my university education in Johannesburg. Since my Father was from Cape Town, I spent many wonderful days in awe of the scenery in this magic city. I immigrated to the United States in 1978 with my husband and son and my passion for my homeland was channeled into the Travel Industry. I worked as a travel agent for 19 years, promoting tourism to Southern Africa. In January 2000, South African Airways began service from Johannesburg and Cape Town to Atlanta and I was appointed the Station Manager of the Atlanta operation. When SAA ceased this service 7 years later, I was honored to be appointed as the US Sales and Marketing representative for The Twelve Apostles Hotel and Spa. The Twelve Apostles encompasses the beauty and views of Cape Town – and what a privilege it is to sell such a magnificent property in such a spectacular location. This sophisticated, boutique property offers mountains and ocean in the same vista and easy proximity to all the attractions of Cape Town and its environs.
