South Africa may have recently been put in the global spotlight for hosting the 2010 football World Cup, but it is famous for many other things besides, including its wine industry.

The country is well known for being one of the world's leading wine producers and all aspects of the sector are set to be celebrated at this year's WineX Wine Festival.

Taking place at the Cape Town International Convention Centre on August 19th and 20th, the event will feature over 1,200 varieties for tasting or purchasing, making it ideal for wine connoisseurs staying in luxury Cape Town hotel The Twelve Apostles while the event is running.

As well as sampling wines from a range of local and international producers, attendees will be able to learn about the latest industry trends and developments, as well as see new wine racks, coolers and other products.

Thousands of enthusiasts attend the Rand Merchant Bank-sponsored festival every year, which is billed as "the premier public event on South Africa's national wine calendar".

Guests staying at The Twelve Apostles who opt for the Stay Longer and Get one Night Free package will get an extra day to explore Cape Town, as the deal entitles those who stay for four nights or more to stay for an extra night free of charge, as well as take full advantage of the hydrotherapy pools, sauna and flotation tank at the hotel's Sanctuary Spa.
