Fashion may not be the first thing that crosses the mind when planning a trip to Cape Town, but it is due to take centre stage in August with the launch of Cape Town Fashion Week.

Due to take place at the city's International Convention Centre, the event will bring together some of Africa's best fashion designers to showcase what they expect to be the main trends in the months to come.

According to What's on When, the event differs from many of its counterparts in cities such as London and Milan by being open to the public as well as the industry, giving people a chance to learn more about how to pursue a new career in the fashion world.

Cape Town Fashion Week has been running since 2003 and this year takes place between August 11th and 14th, featuring both internationally-recognised designers and new names trying to break into the industry.

It may be an ideal event for fashion lovers enjoying a break at luxury Cape Town hotel The Twelve Apostles and guests who have taken advantage of the hotel's Dinner & A Movie offer will be able to return from a day at the show to a relaxing evening's entertainment.

The package offers a five-course dinner, followed by use of the hotel's own in-house cinema.
