Event: Jonny Cooper Big Band's Swing Safari
Date: June 9th to July 10th
Swing music has become somewhat fashionable in recent years, with the likes of Robbie Williams and Michael Buble adapting the sound for some of their latest records.
In South Africa, swing is most definitely swinging and it is thanks to the likes of the Jonny Cooper Big Band, who have introduced the sound to a new generation of listeners.
The group's focus has been to shift away from the traditional American Songbook in favour of reworking some of South Africa's most famous songs in a 1940s swing style.
Now, guests at the luxury Cape Town hotel the 12 Apostles can see the band in action at Swing Safari, which will see them take to the stage at the Theatre on the Bay and play hits such as Nico Carsten's Zambezi, Mama Thembu's Wedding and many more.
The show will also see the ensemble pay tribute to swing legends such as Louis Armstrong and Frank Sinatra with renditions of some of their most popular tracks.
It all makes for an exciting time and a perfect evening's entertainment for those enjoying the 12 Apostles' Take Off to Cape Town package.
The deal includes three nights luxury accommodation, a full English breakfast each day and a choice of two spa treatments from a full body exfoliation and Vichy shower, a Moya euphoric milk bath, a Swedish or Aroma Stone massage and a session in the Rasul Chamber.
