What's hot in Cape Town this weekend?

The waters which lap the beaches of Cape Town are rich in various species of fish, one of which will be celebrated in style this weekend.

So special is the crayfish in South African cuisine that the locals mark its importance with a three-day festival.

The Lamberts Bay Crayfish and Cultural Festival sees this wonderful seafood prepared in a variety of ways and enjoyed by locals and visitors.

As well as various crayfish dishes, there will be entertainment in the form of live music and dancing, while there will also be several stalls selling all manner of handicrafts for attendees to take home with them.

For those who are not keen on fish, there is a chance to join in the celebrations of another of South Africa's favourite foods – cheese.

Taking place at Bien Donne farm in Simondium this weekend is the South African Cheese Festival, which is one of the country's most loved culinary events.

An exhilarating cheese adventure awaits, with an emporium offering every flavour imaginable, cooking demonstrations from some of the best chefs around and live music all to be enjoyed.

There is plenty for kids to do too, with a trip to the Renault and Kia Milk Factory showing youngsters how cheese is made and various activities for them to take part in.

When the time comes to stop eating, visitors to Cape Town can get inspiration for some home improvements for when they get back home by visiting the Cape Decorex exhibition.

Here one will find all the latest interior design trends from lights and tables to beds and wardrobes, all from some of the South Africa's most creative minds.

A trip to Cape Town would not be complete without a visit to the beach and on Saturday Hermanus will be the setting for a festival including live music and fresh food.

In aid of the National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI), the Hermanus Sea Rescue Music Festival will see the likes of Emo Adams, Theuns Johnson and Sarah Theron take to the stage and perform a string of hits.

Afterwards, there will be a demonstration from the NSRI about how one must respect the sea while enjoying it at the same time.

This is just a taste of what is going on in and around Cape Town this weekend.

While there are plenty of places and events for visitors to explore, when it comes to accommodation there is no need to search as the luxury Cape Town hotel the 12 Apostles offers everything one could ever want.

Those who book the Take Off To Cape Town package can enjoy a choice of spa treatments, a full English breakfast each day and a complimentary scheduled transfer service to Camps Bay and the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront among other perks.
