Event: Cape Town Jazz Festival
Date: April 3rd and 4th
The Cape Town Jazz Festival is not known as Africa's grandest gathering for nothing.
For two days this vast city comes to a standstill as locals and visitors come together for a celebration of jazz music in all its forms.
Since its inception ten years ago, the event has become one of the premier jazz showcases anywhere in the world, eclipsing both the Montreaux Festival in Switzerland and the North Sea Jazz Festival in Holland in terms of international importance.
A wonderful mix of talent from home and abroad makes this a very special occasion and this year's line-up looks just as strong as those which have gone before it.
Taking to the stage will be Selaelo Selota, one of South Africa's brightest musicians, US star Rachelle Ferrell and living legend Vusi Mahlasela, whose hybrid sound of folk, blues and soul connects the years of apartheid with the hope for a better future.
It all makes for an exciting couple of days and those enjoying a weekend break in the sunshine can take things to the next level by booking a stay at the luxury Cape Town hotel the 12 Apostles.
As well as offering the gift of music, the city is also blessed with stunning natural beauty and there is no better way to enjoy this than booking the A View From the Top package.
The deal includes sparkling wine on arrival, a five-course select menu dinner, a romantic rose petal turndown, a half-day peninsula tour, tickets for a trip up Table Mountain by cable car and much more.
