Durban gets ready for World cup fans

July 8th 2006 was an historic day for the city of Durban and its people.

This was the day when the demolition of Kings Park Soccer stadium began to make way for the brand new Moses Mabhida venue, named after the famous South African politician.

From this point, the face of Durban was changed forever and the city's drive to modernisation shows no signs of slowing down.

Another significant addition to this fantastic destination is the luxury Durban hotel the Oyster Box, which will be the perfect place to stay when the time comes to rest before exploring what the rest of Durban has to offer.

With its golden beaches, clear-blue skies and warm seas, visitors to the city can enjoy much more than football.

The World Cup will take place during South Africa's winter but, for those staying at the Oyster Box, that is not a problem.

That is because Durban enjoys at least 320 days of sunshine a year, making conditions absolutely perfect for surfers and those who enjoy a stroll along beaches of jaw-dropping beauty.

It really is a city for sports nuts, with volleyball, jet-skiing and more taking place at various venues throughout the area.

After joining the 70,000 spectators at the Moses Mabhida stadium to cheer on the likes of Kaka, Fernando Torres and company, there will be plenty for guests staying at South Africa's latest and greatest hotel to do afterwards.
