Cape Country Picnic Festival at Bien Donne, Simondium

A picnic is a great way for couples to enjoy an afternoon in each other's company, taking in the fresh air and soaking up the sun's rays while eating and frolicking on the grass.

However, the unpredictable British weather makes this pastime a difficult one to enjoy on a regular basis.

Guests at the luxury Cape Town hotel the 12 Apostles will have no such problems however as the skies above South Africa promise brilliant blues and scorching sunshine.

The Cape Country Picnic Festival in February will bring together people from near and far who enjoy alfresco eating.

For 2009, the organisers have included an 800 sq m food and wine tent providing visitors with a spread of local cuisine and wine.

Attendees arrive empty handed and then fill their plates from a range of different dishes, nibbles and snacks before retiring to lush green spaces to eat, mingle and enjoy the weather.

Following on from a day in the sun, guests can return to the hotel and enjoy the Dinner and a Movie package, which provides complimentary use of the in-house cinema, popcorn, ice-creams and other sweet goodies as well as three-course dinner for those who have room left in their stomachs.
