Catch a Shakespeare show in Cape Town

Event: Shakespeare at Maynardville Open-Air Theatre

Cape Town holidaymakers who love a good play can visit the Maynardville Open-Air Theatre in the new year to see a Shakespeare play.

Each summer since 1956 a play has been staged in the location, inspired by a similar event in London's Regents Park.

The play will run from January 10th to February 24th and is an ideal evening's entertainment for those staying in the nearby luxury hotel the Twelve Apostles.

People flock to the outdoor event, which is popular on a warm summer evening, with many attendees taking a picnic to eat before the play begins.

This year's show will see As You Like It performed by actors, with the play sure to have a local twist.

Another event taking place in the area in the new year is the Heineken Cape to Bahia yacht race, which sees 40 boats and 120 sailors taking part.
