After the Pick 'n Pay Knysna Oyster Festival 2007 was lauded a "massive success", plans are underway for this year's culinary event.

Scheduled to take place from July 4th until July 13th 2008 the festival is a special occasion in the Cape Town events calendar and promises to offer a highlight for travellers visiting the region during the winter months.

Those with an interest in dining are sure to delight in the festival, which is one of the country's oldest celebrations and includes 200,000 oysters.

The packed programme also includes more than 70 sports and lifestyle events including the Rotary Cycle Tour and the Knysna Forest Half Marathon.

In terms of dining, the festival offers a range of oyster-related events. Event that could appeal to guests staying at luxury Cape Town hotel the Twelve Apostles are the oyster-shucking competition, the oyster eating competition and the Oyster Mardi Gras, an evening dedicated to oyster cooking and wine tasting.

Those on family breaks should delight in the Pick n Pay Young Oyster Festival - a children's programme including sports, crafts, games and entertainment.
